Language and literature
We delved deeper into character analysis using STEAL and practiced it with characters from plays by Anton Chekhov. We decoded the text of ‘The Chameleon’
We also learned how to frame our paragraphs properly laying emphasis on the topic sentence which should be followed by supporting sentences.
Physics- We started the topic ‘Force’ by writing a story on the given situation. We presented our story and reflected that in every action force is applied in the form of push or pull. Following this we discussed various examples of contact and non-contact forces. Next we discussed in detail the effect of force on objects. With an example of tug of war, we understood the concepts of balanced and unbalanced forces. We also discussed how friction is considered an as necessary evil.
Chemistry- We learned about mixtures, compounds and elements, understood how they have similarities and differences taking examples from daily life. This was followed by a formative assessment on Quizizz. Next, we investigated and prepared property profile for some elements through lab work. We tested and reinforced our understanding of the concepts by completing a task sheet on the same.
Biology- We watched a video to revise our understanding about eukaryotic cells. We learnt about different types of cells present in our body, and how every single cell is in itself an independent factory working together to form several organ systems which continue to form an organism. We even did a group work on this concept in which we had to build a cell using the organelles printed and provided by our teacher. Next, we studied about the organization of life and learnt how our body is formed (cell – tissue – organ – organ system – organism) and the different types of atoms. These two weeks were very interesting and we as class would love to dig deeper into the science hidden behind our body. (Written by Antara Gupta)
We learnt about various Algebraic Expressions: their representation and manipulations. Thereafter, we connected the Algebraic Expressions to various geometrical patterns around us. Next, we applied the technique of substitution for finding input and output table.
French- We revised the unit and its grammatical concepts by playing quizzes on Kahoot and Quizus. Thereafter, we started describing our daily routine and of others using connectors and conjunctions. We also watched the interactive videos on ‘A Typical Routine‘. Following this, we have started working on showcasing our learning in classroom by making posters.
Spanish- We took an oral formative assessment on the current topic ‘Mi rutina diaria’. We were a given a homework to interview our parents asking about their daily routine which we will present in front of the class next week.
Hindi- Phase 1
We practiced paragraph writing on the topic ‘How many things contribute in our growing and all over development as a Human including friends, family, relatives, nature and society’. Working on Criterion A, we e watched the Hindi feature film ‘School Bag’ narrating the story of a child and mother This week we also had our Formative assessments based on criteria B, C & D. We had a quiz on Kahoot based on grammar concepts. We also practiced shrutlekh and story reading activities.

Individual and societies
We have started formulating Natural Disaster Management Plans. This required critical understanding of the various stages that need to be kept in mind. We had to understand the magnitude and location of the disaster. This helped us to come up with plans for LEDC and MEDC and reflect upon the differences in terms of preparation, prevention and recovery in a rich vs. poor country. We also focused on immediate and long term aids.
We researched on various modern buildings and finally predicted the architecture 50 years from now in the form of a building. This architectural structure (it can be a villa, a building or a restaurant design) will be our end product. While finalizing the end product, we thought of our resources and sustainability so that we can have a better place to live.
We have submitted our presentation for assessment of Criteria A: Inquiring and Analyzing. We reflected on our performance to understand our strengths and challenges. Thereafter, we started working on Criterion B: Developing ideas and are in the process of designing drafts for the screen layout of our website.
We have completed our research work on different art movements, artists and artworks associated with them. During our research work we tried to understand composition arrangement, symbolic representation of colours and the ways in which innovative ideas were used .Thereafter, we tried to critically analyse how artworks vary in different art movements. Based on the research, we created mind maps and layouts for our final artwork. We also tried to work upon meaningful application of colours in our art works. We have completed the layout and process journal and have started our final work.
We had our formative assessment on the derivation of scales – major and minor on the staff. We also discussed the answers of the questions we had attempted in the assessment paper.
We continued with our unit on Healthy lifestyle. We researched about the effects of exercise on the muscular system. Thereafter, we enjoyed practicing the gaming skills in the sports of our choice.
